Case Study - It's sweet sixteen for Elite Video Systems & GB Monitoring
A sixteen year old partnership between GB Monitoring and Elite Video Systems is reaping rewards for both companies.
Elite Video Systems has been in the CCTV installation business for over 20 years. Established by managing director Paul Duncanson, the Warrington-based company specialises in commercial closed circuit television installations. Over 20 people are employed, operating throughout the UK and Ireland.
From the beginning, the company was very successful and quickly realised that to complete its security package, it needed a reliable, accredited partner to provide remote monitoring services. Since then, the installer has provided over 100 customers with 24 hour remotely monitored services through GB Monitoring – ranging from garage forecourts, warehousing and recycling plants, to a fully integrated CCTV security solution for a major aircraft manufacturer.
The company says that the biggest selling point for remotely monitored CCTV systems is the savings that companies can make on manned guarding. Where guarding may be costing £500-600 per guard per week, a sophisticated CCTV system on lease rental is likely to be about one third of the price in year one, with much bigger savings after that, making it a very attractive proposition.
Said Elite managing director Paul Duncanson: “We’ve got a good working relationship with GB, and much of that is due to the fact that the two companies are like-minded. We’re both privately owned, family run companies with the same values and their team has invested time in getting to know us very well.
“We try to work closely with GB Monitoring on the more complex jobs, and they get involved in dealing directly with the customer, which shows the personal touch from the start and give customers confidence in what they are buying into.
“Sometimes there are issues, obviously, but we iron them out – we find a solution and move on.”
Paul Duncanson also highlights what’s changed over the past 16 years. “The transmissions are much quicker and better and there are many more options. It’s really opened it up. The important thing is to use the best equipment and operators. If you’re protecting valuable stock, you need to go for a really effective, quality solution. Cheap kit results in false activations and that’s no good for anyone.
“In partnership with GB Monitoring, I like to think we offer quality at an affordable price and the systems we put in are, without question, the best on the market.”
He added: “The partnership between our two companies has generated a valuable source of regular annual income and we have peace of mind that our customers are getting outstanding round the clock service.”
For the future, Paul Duncanson believes IP technology will provide another revolution for the market, bringing new opportunities as people will be able to have remote access worldwide.
